After your arrival in Vienna
Please find descriptions from various arrival places to our institute below:
Arrival at the Vienna Airport (Wien Schwechat, VIE)
With the bus
- Take the
 Airport express bus to Wien Hauptbahnhof (main station) and Wien Westbahnhof to the stop Wien Hauptbahnhof (main station) (first stop, travel time some 22 minutes, departure every 30 minutes, 8 €).
From Hauptbahnhof take the U-Bahn U1 direction Leopoldau (north bound) to Karlsplatz (second stop).
- Airport express bus to Wien Schwedenplatz Morzinplatz (travel time some 20 minutes, departure every 30 minutes, 8 €).
From Schwedenplatz take the U-Bahn U1 direction Oberlaa (south bound) to Karlsplatz (second stop)
With the train
- S-Bahn S7 direction Wolkersdorf to Wien Mitte or regional train direction Gänserndorf to Wien Mitte (many stops,travel time ca. 24 minutes, departure every 30 minutes, ca. 4 €).
From Wien Mitte take U-Bahn U3 direction Ottakring (west bound) to Stephansplatz (2. stop). From Stephansplatz take U-Bahn U1 direction Oberlaa (south bound) to Karlsplatz (1. stop).
- Take the CAT (express train) to Wien Mitte (first stop, travel time some 16 minutes, departure every 30 minutes, 11 €).
From Wien Mitte take the U-Bahn U3 direction Ottakring (west bound) to Stephansplatz (2. stop). From Stephansplatz take the U-Bahn U1 direction Oberlaa (south bound) to Karlsplatz (1st stop).
- Take the long range railway Railjet to Wien Hauptbahnhof (main station) (first stop, travel time some 15 minutes, departure every 30 minutes, ca. 4 €).
From Hauptbahnhof take the U-Bahn U1 direction Leopoldau (north bound) to Karlsplatz (second stop).
With the taxi:
- A fare between 25 € and 36 € (depending on the taxi company, e.g. via telephone +43 1 40100, +43 1 60160, +43 1 31300) is used for taxis to the city.
Arrival at Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna main station, train station)
- From Hauptbahnhof take the U-Bahn U1 direction Leopoldau (north bound) to Karlsplatz (second stop).
Arrival at Wien Westbahnhof (train station)
- U-Bahn U3 direction Simmering (east bound) to Stephansplatz. From Stephansplatz take the U-Bahn U1 direction Oberlaa (south bound) to Karlsplatz.
Within Vienna
The Wiener Verkehrsbetriebe offer special tickets for 24/72 hours with unlimited usage. In general you need one ticket for any travel in one direction (including changing trams/busses/metros). Vienna is one ticket zone, but the airport is not included in this zone.
